Get Involved

Join our mission as we “Stomp the Stigma” around mental health! Together we will reduce the impact of trauma on America’s military and their families.

To respect the confidentiality of our clients, we do not offer volunteer opportunities at the farm. Confidentiality is a respected part of our code of ethics. Clients must feel safe to talk about vulnerable topics, without the fear of that information being shared.

We need your assistance to increase awareness around the mental health and raise the necessary funds to continue to provide care. Mental health, with horses, will save the lives of Veterans and their families, who have experienced unspoken hardships.

“You teach me, I forget. You show me, I remember. You involve me, I understand.”
― Edward O. Wilson

America, especially the active and retired military, is enthralled in a mental health crisis that demands action. When service members return home, they have experienced some level of trauma, with less than half receiving adequate mental health treatment. The Department of Veterans Affairs reports that the number of Veterans receiving mental health care has increased 90% from FY 2006-2019. Yet, approximately 22 veterans die by suicide every day, which is 2 times more likely than civilians.

Host a Fundraiser or Event benefiting Soul to Soles Connection

All services offered at Soul to Soles Connection are at NO cost to the Service Member, Veterans, or their family/caregiver. We achieve this through generous donations. With your support no Veteran will be turned away for the opportunity to heal. You can host a fundraising event around your hobbies/passions/connections and donate a portion to Soul to Soles! This will increase awareness for Military Mental Health and help raise money for our programs.

Please complete this application, sharing with us your ideas and how we can aid in the success of your event.

Hold an Honest Conversation about Mental Health & the Options

Nearly 450 million people suffer from mental illness in 2021. AND it’s estimated only half receive effective treatment. Why is that? Shame? Misperception? Pride? Expense?

Discussing struggles and concerns are hard conversations to hold. Mental illness affects everyone at some point in life no matter the age, race, and gender. Change starts with an honest conversation – “How are you really?” Then be an active listener, who makes a conscious effort to hear, and engage in what is being said. Be truly present with the person who is sharing, knowing that you don’t have to have the “right answers.”

It is not your responsibility to come up with solutions for them. You can support them, but they need to be the one to ask for help. There are copious treatment options, and admitting is the first step in healing.
